– Homage to the Medicine Master, King of Lapis Lazuli Light Tathagata.
– Homage, refuge, and offerings to the Bhagavan, Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened One, Dharma-Ocean Supreme Wisdom Sovereign in Spiritual Powers Tathagata (7 times)
– Again, I personally make offerings. Now, before all Buddhas, great bodhisattvas, and the assembly of sages: If one hears the name of the Buddha Dharma-Ocean Supreme Wisdom Sovereign in Spiritual Powers, rightly contemplates and recites his name, and reverently makes offerings and bows 7 times, one shall receive the awe-inspiring spiritual power arising from the supremely excellent, subtle, and vast vows made by the Buddha Dharma-Ocean Supreme Wisdom Sovereign in Spiritual Powers. May I and all sentient beings who have committed evil karma—killing living beings while plowing, planting, and cultivating; afterward engaging in dishonest trade, deception, and fraud; and frequently killing one another in armed conflict and warfare—from now until we attain unsurpassed bodhi, obtain everything necessary for life without laborious seeking, everything being fulfilled according to our wishes.
Again, may I and all sentient beings who have committed the ten evil karmas, including killing, and have consequently fallen into hell, from now until we attain unsurpassed bodhi, accomplish all ten wholesome paths and never fall into the evil destinies.
Again, may I and all sentient beings who are subject to others and have no freedom, or who are shackled, bound, imprisoned, beaten, or subjected to various tortures, from now until we attain unsurpassed bodhi, be freed from every calamity of shackles, bonds, and beatings, and fully possess awe-inspiring virtue and freedom.
Again, may I and all sentient beings who, through evil karma, have short lives, not meet with any kind of untimely death; and when our lives draw to an end, may we hear the name of the Dharma-Ocean Supreme Wisdom Sovereign in Spiritual Powers Tathagata, have right mindfulness present before us, be freed from every calamity, always be born in a central land, and enjoy every happiness. May we, from now until we attain unsurpassed bodhi, forever remain far removed from all calamities and always be born among devas and humans, enjoying every happiness.
Again, may we, at the time of death, be born in the Buddha-land of Dharma-Ocean Supreme Wisdom Sovereign in Spiritual Powers, miraculously born from a lotus upon a lion lotus throne, and attain the various dharani gates, samadhis, and virtues.
Again, may we hear the wondrous Dharma from the guiding teacher, Dharma-Ocean Supreme Wisdom Sovereign in Spiritual Powers Tathagata, and the Tathagatas of the ten directions; attend upon them and make offerings so that the Buddhas rejoice; and in but an instant reach the various Buddha-lands without obstruction.
– Homage, refuge, and offerings to the Bhagavan, Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened One, Medicine Master, King of Lapis Lazuli Light Buddha (7 times)
– Again, I personally make offerings. Now, before all Buddhas, great bodhisattvas, and the assembly of sages: If one hears the name of the Buddha Medicine Master, Lapis Lazuli Light, rightly contemplates and recites his name, and reverently makes offerings and bows 7 times, one shall receive the awe-inspiring spiritual power arising from the vast and subtle vows made by the Medicine Master, Lapis Lazuli Light Tathagata. May we and all sentient beings fully possess the 32 marks of a great person and the 10 beautiful characteristics adorning the body, and may our light illuminate immeasurable and boundless worlds, no differently from the Buddha.
Again, may my body and the bodies of all sentient beings be like lapis lazuli, clear within and without, free from impurity, radiating vast light, endowed with lofty and profound virtue, and constantly abiding within a radiant net brighter than the sun and moon.
Again, may I and all sentient beings, from now until we attain unsurpassed, perfect enlightenment, become no different from the Lapis Lazuli Light Tathagata; and may all beings in darkness gain understanding, see one another, and freely accomplish whatever they wish to do.
Again, may the Medicine Master, Lapis Lazuli Light Tathagata, through immeasurable wisdom and skillful means, enable me and all sentient beings, from now until we attain unsurpassed bodhi, to possess an inexhaustible abundance of everything needed, so that no one suffers deprivation.
Again, may I and all sentient beings who engage in wrong and evil practices, from now until we attain unsurpassed bodhi, be caused to abide securely in the bodhi path; and if any follow the Lesser Vehicle of the sravakas or pratyekabuddhas, may they all be delivered through the Mahayana.
Again, may I and all sentient beings who practice pure conduct within the Buddha-Dharma possess it fully and without transgression, guarding the three karmas without offense. From now until we attain unsurpassed bodhi, if we violate the precepts, may we regain purity and not fall into the evil destinies.
Again, may I and all sentient beings whose faculties are incomplete; who are ugly, impaired, stubborn, ignorant, mute, deaf, foolish, cross-eyed, leprous, insane, or tormented by various illnesses and sufferings—from now until we attain unsurpassed bodhi—have every illness and suffering eliminated, possess complete faculties, and be adorned with wisdom.
Again, may I and all sentient beings who are poor, destitute, and afflicted, without support or refuge, medicine, relatives, or homes, from now until we attain unsurpassed bodhi, have our illnesses eliminated, possess abundant families and attendants, lack none of the necessities, and enjoy peace and happiness in body and mind.
Again, may I and all sentient beings who, because we have female bodies, are oppressed by a hundred evils and greatly desire to relinquish them, from now until we attain unsurpassed bodhi, all transform from female into male and fully possess the marks of a great person.
Again, may I and all sentient beings who are bound by the nets of Mara and non-Buddhist teachings or have strayed into forests of evil views, from now until we attain unsurpassed bodhi, all be gathered in and protected, depart far from wrong views, give rise to right view, gradually cultivate the bodhisattva practices, and swiftly attain unsurpassed, perfect enlightenment.
Again, may I and all sentient beings who are imprisoned under royal law and the laws of the state, bound, beaten, subjected to every punishment, and oppressed by such sufferings, worried and deprived of peace and happiness, from now until we attain unsurpassed bodhi, through the Buddha’s awe-inspiring power, be freed from every sorrow and suffering.
Again, may I and all sentient beings who suffer from hunger and thirst and commit evil karma in seeking food, from now until we attain unsurpassed bodhi, through the Buddha’s awe-inspiring power, obtain an abundance of delicious and rare foods and drinks according to our wishes, and afterward be brought to peace and happiness through the flavor of Dharma.
Again, may I and all sentient beings whose bodies lack clothing and who are tormented by mosquitoes and biting insects, heat and cold, from now until we attain unsurpassed bodhi, through the Buddha’s awe-inspiring power, obtain according to our wishes an abundance of fine garments, precious ornaments, flowers, incense, and music; be prosperous and lack nothing; no longer be oppressed by suffering; fully possess the precepts of the sages; swiftly depart from afflictions; and quickly abide in the various liberations and joys.
When our lives end, may we immediately be reborn in the land of the Medicine Master, King of Lapis Lazuli Light Buddha, miraculously born from a lotus upon a precious lion lotus throne, and attain the various dharani gates, samadhis, and liberations. Afterward, may we hear the wondrous Dharma from the guiding teacher, Medicine Master, King of Lapis Lazuli Light Tathagata, and the Tathagatas of the ten directions; attend upon them and reverently make offerings so that the Buddhas rejoice; and in but an instant travel throughout the Buddha-lands of the ten directions without obstruction.
– Homage, refuge, and offerings to the Bhagavan, Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened One, Sakyamuni Buddha (7 times)
– Again, I personally make offerings. Now, before all Buddhas, great bodhisattvas, and the assembly of sages: If one hears the name of Sakyamuni Buddha, rightly contemplates and recites his name, and reverently makes offerings and bows 7 times, one shall receive the awe-inspiring spiritual power of our fundamental teacher, Sakyamuni Buddha, who, for sentient beings in future ages bound by karmic obstructions, oppressed by various illnesses and sufferings, disturbed by anxiety and sorrow, and afflicted by poverty, hunger, and hardship, wished devas and humans to obtain benefit, peace, and happiness, and fully gathered within his care all meaningful benefits.
Through vast skillful means, the Seven Buddha Tathagatas joyfully told Manjusri: “If anyone wishes to depart far from afflictions and make offerings to the Sutra of the Tathagatas’ Fundamental Vows and Virtues, that person should contemplate its meaning during the six periods of day and night. First, in a clean and pure place, one should make 7 images of the Buddhas and offer various kinds of incense and flowers, hang banners and canopies, and present delicious and excellent foods and drinks. For 7 days, one should purely observe the eightfold fasting precepts and, in a pure chamber, make this great vow: May I be born in the land of that Buddha, and toward all sentient beings may I give rise to compassion and perform deeds bringing benefit, peace, and happiness.
Then he spoke the mantra:

If a good man or faithful woman single-mindedly recites and upholds the Lapis Lazuli Precious Light Dharani for a full one thousand and eight repetitions, those Tathagatas and bodhisattvas shall all protect and remain mindful of that person. Vajrapani Bodhisattva, Brahma, Sakra, the Four Heavenly Kings, and others shall also protect that person. Even if that person has committed the 5 heinous offenses, all karmic obstructions shall be eliminated. That person shall be free from illness, live long, and not suffer untimely death. Illness, theft, banditry, enemy attacks, warfare, litigation, enmity, hunger, and thirst shall swiftly be eliminated. All who inspire fear shall give rise to loving-kindness, and every prayer shall be fulfilled according to that person’s wishes.
Again, may I and all sentient beings, for the benefit of others and in accordance with this ritual manual, establish the ritual altar, assemble the Seven Tathagatas and the assembly of sages, make offerings, make vows, and recite the dharani. May we receive everything described in the Sutra and gather every virtuous benefit and merit. May I and all sentient beings obtain in this very life complete fulfillment according to our wishes. May you compassionately take pity upon us and accept these offerings. The true words of the Tathagatas never differ from reality. May all my vows be accomplished. Protect and gather us in! Protect and gather us in!
The supreme lamp illuminates and dispels ignorance;
Excellent medicine cures the sufferings of the three maladies.
The subtle, wondrous Dharma surpasses all;
I now bow and make offerings accordingly.
Through the true power and protective acceptance of the supreme Dharma treasure, I vow in life after life and age after age always to receive and uphold it. May you accept it; may you accept it.
The mind of the Great Sage Manjusri Bodhisattva Mahasattva is free from every defilement and without a single blemish. He fully possesses immeasurable virtues; his body is adorned in every way, radiant and pure. He can purify and eliminate the evil destinies. All devas, humans, asuras, and assemblies of sages bow before his lotus throne. I do likewise, reverently bowing and taking refuge.
– Homage, refuge, and offerings to the Great Sage Manjusri Bodhisattva Mahasattva (7 times)
– Again, I personally make offerings. The Bhagavan Manjusri, for the sake of the various sentient beings of the world who are obscured by karmic obstructions, oppressed by diseases, disturbed and harmed by sorrows and anxieties, and bound by wrong views that cause them to regress from their stages, took pity upon all such beings. He caused those who heard the names of those Buddhas to become definitely irreversible on the path to bodhi; caused all their sins, karma, obstructions, and calamities to be eliminated; caused the maras no longer to disturb them; caused all evil suffering and affliction to cease; and caused every prayer to be fulfilled completely according to their wishes. Therefore, the guiding teacher Sakyamuni Buddha taught the names of the 7 Buddha Tathagatas together with their supremely excellent and subtle great vows. Now, before the assembly, he should be petitioned thus: “World-Honored One! In the future age of the Dharma’s decline, if anyone receives, upholds, reads, and recites this scripture; explains it to others; copies it personally or asks others to copy it; reveres and honors it; and makes offerings of various flowers and incense, anointing incense, powdered incense, burning incense, garlands, bracelets, banners, canopies, and various kinds of music; if good men and faithful women are caused to hear the names of the Seven Buddhas, and even while they sleep those Buddha names are spoken so they may hear them; and if five-colored silk and five-colored thread are hung, a pouch is made to contain this Sutra, and it is placed upon a high seat—then the four Great Heavenly Kings, their retinues, and hundreds of thousands of devas shall all come to that place to make offerings and protect those who read and recite this Sutra. Know that this place shall not suffer calamities or untimely death, nor shall evil ghosts or spirits steal anyone’s vital essence. Even if it has been stolen, it shall be restored, and body and mind shall be peaceful and happy.”
It is as stated in the Sutra. The Great Sage’s words are true and unchanging, and he does not forget his vow. May he accept the offerings made here.
Again, before the Tathagatas in the assembly, may we earnestly petition and awaken those who in the past made great vows, so that my ritual altar and all its procedures may be complete.
Again, may I and all sentient beings presently possess fully all the virtuous and meaningful benefits described in the Sutra. May you accept them! May you accept them!
– Homage and offerings to the Deliverance Bodhisattva Mahasattva (7 times)
Again, I personally make offerings. The Great Sage Deliverance Bodhisattva, for sentient beings in an evil age afflicted by causes of suffering and affliction, wished to benefit those beings and, before the World-Honored One in the great assembly, addressed the Buddha: “World-Honored One! In the future, when the Semblance Dharma is turning toward decline, if sentient beings are tormented by illnesses, their bodies emaciated, unable to eat or drink, their mouths bitter and throats dry, their eyes seeing darkness, and signs of death appearing, while parents, siblings, spouses, children, relatives, and friends surround them weeping and lamenting, then, as their bodies lie there, they shall see the messengers of King Yama leading their consciousness before the King.
At that time, the co-born spirits who have clearly recorded all the good and evil deeds performed by those persons shall present those records to the King. King Yama shall judge their offenses and impose punishment accordingly. If at that time their relatives, on behalf of the sick persons, take refuge in the Medicine Master, Lapis Lazuli Light Tathagata and the other Tathagatas, and make Dharma offerings with various adornments, then the consciousness of those persons, after 7, 14, 21, or 49 days, shall return as though awakening from a dream.
They shall understand the rewards of good deeds and the various fruits of karma. Having personally realized the unfailing nature of evil karma, they shall not dare commit evil again, even at the risk of death. Venerable Ananda, if those making offerings wish a sick person afflicted by calamities to be liberated, they should, on that person’s behalf, observe the eight fasting precepts for 7 days and 7 nights; make offerings to the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha of foods, drinks, and necessities; and during the six periods of day and night reverently bow and practice the path.
They should bow to the 7 Buddha Tathagatas, recite this Sutra 49 times, light 49 lamps, and make images of the 7 Tathagatas. Before each image, they should place 7 lamps as large as cartwheels and keep them burning without extinction for 49 days and nights. They should make 49 multicolored banners, each 49 spans long, and release 49 kinds of living creatures.
Venerable Ananda! This is the offering ritual for the 7 Tathagatas. If calamities arise for a consecrated ksatriya prince—such as epidemics, invasion by foreign countries, rebellion within the realm, ominous changes among the stars, untimely sun, moon, rain, or wind—then that consecrated ksatriya king should give rise to great compassion for all sentient beings, open the prisons and release the prisoners, liberate living creatures, and then, according to the Dharma, make offerings to the Medicine Master, Lapis Lazuli Light Buddha and the other Buddha Tathagatas.
Through these roots of virtue and the blessing of the Tathagatas’ awe-inspiring spiritual power, the realm shall become peaceful and secure; rain and wind shall come in due season; the crops shall flourish; the beings within the realm shall be healthy and happy; no violent yaksa, ghost, or spirit shall cause disturbance; all evil omens shall disappear; and those consecrated ksatriya kings shall live long, remain free from illness, and possess freedom.”
It is just as stated in the Sutra. The Great Sage’s intent is true and without deviation, and he does not abandon his vow. May he accept all the offerings upon this altar. Again, in the assembly of the Tathagatas, may we earnestly petition them not to abandon their vows, so that my ritual altar and its procedures may be complete.
Again, may I and all sentient beings obtain every virtuous benefit and merit exactly as stated in the Sutra. May you accept them! May you accept them!
– Homage, refuge, and offerings to Vajrapani Bodhisattva Mahasattva
– Homage, refuge, and offerings to the Great Brahma Heavenly King; Sakra, Lord of the Devas; Dhrtarastra Heavenly King; Virudhaka Heavenly King; Virupaksa Heavenly King; Vaisravana Heavenly King; the upasakas; and the entire sacred assembly of Dharma protectors (7 times)
Again, I personally make offerings to Vajrapani Bodhisattva Mahasattva; the Great Brahma Heavenly King; Sakra, Lord of the Devas; Dhrtarastra Heavenly King; Virudhaka Heavenly King; Virupaksa Heavenly King; Vaisravana Heavenly King; the upasakas; and the entire sacred assembly of Dharma protectors. In the past, in the assembly, they addressed the Buddha with the truthful words of devas: “We have heard the extraordinary virtues of the 7 Buddhas, and we have seen the Buddhas and personally attended upon and made offerings to the World-Honored One.
Wherever this scripture, the names of the 7 Buddhas, and the Dharma of the dharani circulate, are honored, or are even copied, relying upon the Buddha’s awe-inspiring power, we shall immediately go there to protect them. Kings, ministers, cities, towns, villages, good men, faithful women, and others shall not be tormented by suffering or disease. We wish to repay the Buddha’s kindness and ensure that all are free from untimely death and that disputes and litigation are eliminated.
Every prayer shall be fulfilled; they shall always enjoy peace and happiness and possess abundant wealth, food, and drink; and they shall be protected at all times. World-Honored One! We now make this vow before the Buddha: If any good man or faithful woman remembers us and recites this mantra:
Then they spoke the mantra:
Đát diệt tha: A cử ma cử đà ra cử ma ma cử cử lệ ha hô hê ma la ma la ma la ma la thô thô lệ thô lệ sa ha.

If good men and faithful women recite the names of the 7 Buddhas, recite this mantra, copy it, and make offerings to it, in this very life they shall live long and remain free from illness, depart far from all suffering and affliction, not fall into the three evil destinies, and attain irreversibility up to bodhi. They shall be reborn at will in the various Buddha-lands, see all Buddhas, attain knowledge of past lives, and possess mindfulness, concentration, and wisdom.
At that time, Vajrapani Bodhisattva Mahasattva went before the Buddha and said: “I also vow to protect those who receive and uphold the Sutra in future ages, causing them to be free from suffering and affliction and to obtain complete fulfillment of everything they seek. I shall now speak the dharani:

World-Honored One! If anyone upholds the names of the 7 Buddhas, recollects the virtues of their fundamental vows, recites and upholds this mantra, and circulates it among others, I shall cause all that person’s wishes to be completely fulfilled without deficiency. If that person wishes to see me and inquire about good and evil matters, that person should copy this Sutra, make images of the 7 Buddhas, and recite the mantra of Vajrapani Bodhisattva.
Relics of the Buddha should be placed within the images. Before the images, as stated in the Sutra, that person should offer various kinds of incense and flowers, banners, streamers, precious canopies, delicious foods and drinks, and various kinds of music; bow and circumambulate the images; give rise to compassion for sentient beings; observe the eight fasting precepts; bathe 3 times each day; and change garments 3 times.
From the eighth day through the fifteenth day of each month, that person should single-mindedly recite the mantra 108 times each day. I shall then appear in that person’s dream, clearly give instructions, and cause every prayer to be completely fulfilled.”
It is as stated in the Sutra. The Great Sage’s wondrous intent is true and not false. May he accept the offerings made here and, with compassion, enable my ritual altar and all its procedures to be complete. Again, may I and all sentient beings presently possess fully every virtuous and meaningful benefit. May you accept them! May you accept them!
Again, may the Sutra of the Virtues of the Fundamental Vows of the Seven Buddhas, together with all scriptures and Dharma treasures, long abide in the world, spread throughout the ten directions, flourish and prosper, and bring benefit and happiness.
Again, may we who receive and uphold this Dharma gate, all the people of the country, and the myriad animals be freed from every illness and calamity; from thunderbolts and hail that damage crops; from monstrous spirits, ominous transformations, evil signs, and inauspicious omens that harm sentient beings; and from calamities caused by fierce ghosts and spirits continually coming and going. Whether these are summoned by karma we created in past lives, by karma in this life, or by deeds committed by our grandparents or parents, may we now possess awe-inspiring virtue and freedom within the realm, and may our families, attendants, and necessities be complete.
May all obstructing ghosts and spirits be subdued by skillful means according to their kind, relinquish resentment and hatred, and give rise to mutual loving-kindness and compassion. May every evil disappear. From now onward, may all evil ghosts and spirits neither give rise to malicious thoughts nor create obstacles.
According to their kind, may they all make great vows before the Buddha, abide by their pledges, dwell securely in samadhi, and always perform such wholesome deeds in our presence. Humbly, may you accept them! Humbly, may you accept them!
The 12 Great Yaksa Generals, Auspicious and Awe-Inspiring Upasakas:
Homage, refuge, and offerings to Great Yaksa General Cung Tỳ La.
Homage, refuge, and offerings to Great Yaksa General Phạt Chiết La.
Homage, refuge, and offerings to Great Yaksa General Mê Xí La.
Homage, refuge, and offerings to Great Yaksa General An Để La.
Homage, refuge, and offerings to Great Yaksa General Át Nễ La.
Homage, refuge, and offerings to Great Yaksa General San Để La.
Homage, refuge, and offerings to Great Yaksa General Nhân Đà La.
Homage, refuge, and offerings to Great Yaksa General Ba Di La.
Homage, refuge, and offerings to Great Yaksa General Ma Hổ La.
Homage, refuge, and offerings to Great Yaksa General Chân Đà La.
Homage, refuge, and offerings to Great Yaksa General Chiêu Đổ La.
Homage, refuge, and offerings to Great Yaksa General Tỳ Yết La.
Again, I personally make offerings to the auspicious and awe-inspiring assembly of the 12 Yaksa upasakas. Each Great General has 700 million yaksas as attendants. Take pity upon me, for in the great assembly you spoke truthful words and made this vow before the Buddha: “World-Honored One!
Relying upon the Buddha’s awe-inspiring power, we have heard the name of the Medicine Master, Lapis Lazuli Light Tathagata and no longer fear the evil destinies. Together, with one mind, for as long as we live, we take refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. We vow not to abandon a single sentient being and always to perform deeds bringing benefit, peace, and happiness.
Wherever it may be—in cities, towns, villages, or secluded forests—if anyone reads, recites, or circulates this Sutra, or receives and upholds the names of the 7 Buddhas and reverently makes offerings, we and our attendants shall protect that person, free that person from every calamity, and cause everything sought to be fulfilled according to that person’s wishes.”
At that time, the World-Honored One told the Great Yaksa Generals: “Excellent! Excellent! You Yaksa Generals wish to repay the kindness of the 7 Buddha Tathagatas and bring benefit, peace, and happiness to all sentient beings.”
Humbly, may you now lead the virtuous assemblies here to receive these offerings. With compassion, accept the offerings and make my ritual altar and all its procedures complete.
Again, may I and all sentient beings presently possess fully the virtuous benefits and merits described in the Sutra. May you accept them! May you accept them!
Again, may the Sutra of the Virtues of the Fundamental Vows of the Seven Buddhas and all scriptures and Dharma treasures long abide in the world, spread throughout the ten directions, and bring great benefit to all people and all sentient beings. Again, may we and all sentient beings be freed from all illness, suffering, calamity, and peril; from thunderbolts and hail that damage crops; and from monstrous spirits, ghosts, and every evil thing that disturbs sentient beings.
Whether these arise from karma created in our past lives, from deeds ripening in this life, or from deeds committed by grandparents, ancestors, or parents, may we possess awe-inspiring virtue and freedom within the realm, with families, attendants, and necessities complete. May all obstructing ghosts and spirits, according to their kinds, be skillfully subdued; may they relinquish jealousy, hatred, and anger, and give rise to mutual loving-kindness and compassion.
May every evil disappear. Cause the ghosts and spirits neither to give rise to malicious thoughts nor create obstacles. May beings of every kind make vows before the Buddha, abide by their pledges and in samadhi, and always perform wholesome deeds.
Thus, humbly, may you accept them! Humbly, may you accept them!
Thus, the offerings and vows are made to each one in turn.
Again, when reciting the dharani, first bathe and cleanse yourself, then make offerings and pray before the Buddhas and sages: “In accordance with the Ritual Manual of the Sutra of the Virtues of the Fundamental Vows of the Seven Buddhas, we establish the ritual altar and make offerings of incense and flowers. We respectfully invite the Bhagavans, Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Enlightened Ones; the 7 Buddha Tathagatas; Sakyamuni Buddha; and the entire sacred assembly.
We recite their names, make offerings, and bow. In accordance with the fundamental vows, we make great vows before the sages, repent of sins and obstructions, rejoice in roots of virtue, request the turning of the Dharma Wheel, and request them to remain in the world. Through the power of these roots of virtue, together with the subtle and supreme power of their protective virtues and vows:
Again, may all the sinful karma of the Great Sage Emperor from beginningless time onward be eliminated. May he be free from illness and live long. May all mundane and supramundane affairs be prosperous and complete. May every blessing and wisdom manifest before him, and may he swiftly attain the station of Dharma King, Lord of the Three Realms, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened One, and Vajra Jewel Throne. May the hundred officials and common people be free from calamities within and without, and be peaceful, happy, and prosperous. Ultimately, may they attain unsurpassed bodhi.
Again, may all the people of the country and all sentient beings be free from illness and calamity; may the grain harvests flourish; may thieves and bandits disappear; and may every inauspicious matter be eliminated. May rain and wind come in due season and the people prosper. May all people and sentient beings enjoy happiness and delight. In future lives, may they be born in the Land of Ultimate Bliss, see the World-Honored One, hear the wondrous Dharma, swiftly perfect the two accumulations of merit and wisdom, and attain the Buddha-fruit of unsurpassed bodhi. Again, may the Dharma treasure circulate in the world for a long time and extensively benefit sentient beings.
Next, perform the rite of respectfully seeing them off: Bhagavans, Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Enlightened Ones; the 7 Buddha Tathagatas; the guiding teacher Sakyamuni Buddha; bodhisattvas; and the sacred assembly: We have performed deeds benefiting sentient beings. Yet, because in this evil age our minds are defiled and impure, we do not know how to relinquish the afflictions arising from the karma of body, speech, and mind.
Our offerings have not been complete; there have been offenses and deficiencies; they have not accorded with the ritual manual; and there have been many errors. May the sacred assembly not abandon us but compassionately take pity upon and accept us. Also, enable us to perform wholesome deeds without obstruction.
Humbly, may you accept them! Humbly, may you accept them!
Now the work of benefiting sentient beings is complete;
May everything sought be fully accomplished.
We respectfully see the World-Honored Ones back to their original stations;
May you compassionately descend again to this ritual altar.
May the World-Honored Ones, replete with loving-kindness and compassion, take pity upon us. Now that all deeds of benefit have been completed, we invite the sacred assembly to use great spiritual powers and return to their original lands.
