O diligent, courageous one! These precepts are supreme in the world,Expounded by the Buddhas of old.Conditions and illumination are where the precepts arise.Abiding in the precepts as in Perfect AwakeningEnables one to accomplish siddhi. For the benefit of the world,Equally arouse one’s own reality.Do not give rise to doubt or anxiety;Constantly abide in meditative equipoise. Then the cultivation of the precepts will be completed. The mind of bodhicitta and the Dharma,And awakening cultivated with regard to karmic results,Are harmonized into a single characteristic,Far removed from all fabrications. One replete with the precepts possesses Buddha-wisdom;Apart from this, the precepts are incomplete. One attains mastery of all dharmas,Penetrates what benefits sentient beings,And constantly cultivates the practice of nonattachment.Precious stones and every kind of jewel,Up to a full laksa—The mantra teachings already proclaimedAll accord with the respective monthsTo complete the prescribed period of observance. At first, contemplate the Golden WheelAnd abide in the Great Indra.
Then contemplate the syllable A (狣)And form the Vajra Mudra.Drink milk to nourish the body; The practitioner completes one month,Skillfully regulating inhalation and exhalation.Next, during the second month,Properly establish the Water Wheel. The surrounding rings of the wheel form nine circles,Colored like moonlight on an autumn night. One should employ the Lotus MudraAnd drink only pure water.Next, during the third month,Contemplate the supremely wondrous Fire Wheel,Triangular and wreathed in majestic flames.Form the Mudra of the Great Wisdom SwordAnd eat without seeking food. Then, using the Great Wisdom Sword,Burn away all transgressionsAnd give rise to body, mind, and speech. In the fourth month: the Wind Wheel. The practitioner constantly swallows wind,Forms the Turning of the Dharma Wheel Mudra,And gathers the mind in recitation.Contemplate the Vajra Water WheelAnd, in accordance with yoga, abide therein. This is the fifth month.Far removed from attainment and nonattainment,The practitioner clings to nothing,Equal to saṃbodhi, Perfect Awakening.Unite the Wheels of Wind and FireAnd transcend every fault.Again recite for one month; This is the sixth month. Also abandon benefit and nonbenefit. The celestial hosts, Brahma and Sakra,Rahu and pisacas,Stand afar and reverently bow.All become protectors,And all obey the commands of the teaching. Thus shall it always be:Humans, devas, spirits of medicinal herbs,Vidyadharas, and all spirit-immortals
Attend on either side,Obedient to whatever is commanded.Unwholesome beings who cause obstacles,The raksasas and the Seven Mothers,Upon seeing the mantra-holder,Reverently withdraw far away.Seeing that place radiate light,They scatter and flee as from a raging fire.Whatever is done according to the teachingMust accord with the observances of the vidya.True children of Perfect AwakeningAttain mastery over everything. They subdue those difficult to conquer,Like the Great Vajra-Bearer,And benefit all living beings,Equal to Avalokitesvara. When six months have passed,The fruit is attained according to one’s vows.Always, toward self and others,Show compassion and render aid.Hold the rosary level with the heart; For the rest, follow the Susiddhikara. For each and every mantra,Recite with mindful mental intention.Exhalation and inhalation are two;The first is always brought into correspondence.Arrange the syllable A upon the limbsAnd recite a full three laksas (three hundred thousand repetitions).Samantabhadra and Manjusri,The Vajra-Bearer, the noble ones, and devasWill appear before one and stroke the crown of one’s head. The practitioner bows his head in homageAnd swiftly offers arghya water,Mentally produced incense and flower garlands. One then attains purity of body.Having completed the prescribed recitation,Return the beads (rosary) to their original place. Then enter samadhi. After the duration of one meal, emerge from samadhi,Again form the Root Mudra,And complete seven recitations of the mantra. Then display the Eye of SpaceAnd offer incense, flowers, and the other offerings.
