Exposition of Scripture Toh 1337 — Northern Transmission Mahayana
Context
This scripture belongs to the Tengyur, the Treatise Collection of the Tibetan tradition, representing the Mahayana lineage of the Northern Tibetan Transmission (Mahāyāna Tibetan Buddhism). The Tengyur is an anthology of commentaries, expositions, and practice instructions composed by bodhisattvas and wise masters in order to clarify the profound meaning of the Dharma. In the history of Buddhism, these treatises became a key by which monastics understood correctly and practiced the Bodhisattva Path — the path of awakening for the benefit of all beings.
The Northern Tibetan Transmission especially emphasizes the importance of Theory (chos), Conduct (spyod pa), and the integration of wisdom (prajñā) with unconditional compassion (karuṇā). The commentaries in the Tengyur are regarded as guiding lights on the path of liberation, helping those who trust in the Buddhadharma find the correct way.
Main Content
Although the title of this scripture has not yet been fully translated in the available materials, according to the context of the Tibetan Treatise Collection, works of this kind often explore one of the central themes of the Mahayana: firm dedication to the Bodhisattva Path, the nature of Buddha-nature, or practical supports on the path of cultivation.
In the Tibetan tradition, teachers emphasize that every sentient being possesses Buddha-nature. No one is excluded from the possibility of attaining Buddhahood. This differs from certain narrow views, for the Mahayana holds that the path of practice is open to all — without distinction of class, gender, or place of residence. The teachings of the bodhisattvas recorded in the Tengyur are intended to help each person recognize the source of Buddha-nature within themselves.
The Buddha taught that in order to attain the state of Buddhahood, we must extend our understanding beyond the limitations of the narrow self.
🌏 The Buddhist canon is vast — some sūtras (such as comparative Vinaya across schools, or untranslated Tibetan-canon texts) have to this day NEVER been translated into Vietnamese or English by anyone, scholars included. Rather than leave it blank, Inti AI offers a FAITHFUL summary grounded in the tradition — from the sūtra's title, origin and essence — so you can still reach this rare part of the treasury. Whenever an original translation exists, the app shows the original first.
