At that time, Śākyamuni Buddha, dwelling in the Palace of the Pure Abodes, addressed Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva, together with the fourfold assembly, the eight classes of deities who travel through space, the Nine Luminaries, the spirits of the Twelve Zodiacal Palaces, the Twenty-Eight Lunar Mansions, and the constellations of the Sun and Moon:
“In a past life, in the presence of the Buddha King of the Śāla Tree, I received the Dharma of the Dhāraṇī of the Tathāgata Blazing Light of the Great Majestic Golden-Wheel Buddha-Crown, Who Dispels All Calamities. In the future, throughout the various realms, when the Sun, Moon, Five Planets, Rāhu, Ketu, comets, portents, demons, or evil stars cast their influence upon one’s natal destiny or the positions of the stars; when they approach the imperial throne or enter a country, a household, or any other place;
or when their oppressive influence, whether advancing or retreating, enters and brings about calamities—one should immediately establish a Dharma sanctuary in a pure place and, with utmost sincerity, recite this Dhāraṇī 108 times or 1,080 times, for one day, two days, or as many as seven days.
If one establishes the sanctuary according to the Dharma and receives, upholds, reads, and recites this Dhāraṇī, all calamities will naturally be dispelled and will be unable to cause harm. If Venus or Mars enters the Southern Dipper and calamities arise within the country, the household, or any other place, one should first recite before the wrathful image of Thiết Đổ Rô and empower it with this mantra. The calamities will immediately be dispelled and moved elsewhere, not daring to violate one’s person.” He then spoke the Dhāraṇī:
“Nẵng mồ tam mãn đà một đà nẫm, a bát ra để hạ đa xá tát nẵng nẫm. Ứm khư khư khư hê khư hê, Hồng Hồng nhập phạ la phập phạ la, bát ra nhập phạ la bát ra nhập phạ la, để sắc xá để sắc xá, sắc trí rị sắc trí rị, tát phấn tra tát phấn tra, phiến để ca thất rị duệ sa ha”

The Buddha said: “If, within a realm or in any place, good men or good women are bodily afflicted by the celestial stars, they should copy this sutra and, with utmost sincerity, receive, uphold, read, and recite it, always maintaining purity. This Dhāraṇī is proclaimed by all Tathāgatas. It can accomplish 8,400 auspicious deeds and dispel 8,400 evil occurrences.
If a king, great minister, their retinues, or the people are oppressed by the Five Planets, Rāhu, Ketu, comets, portents, demons, or other constellations; if these afflict the imperial throne, the country, the household, the surrounding wilderness, or the palaces governing their destinies, causing calamities to arise; if Saturn exerts its oppressive influence, whether advancing or retreating; or if enemies from many lifetimes seek to inflict harm, bringing evil and untimely incidents, slanderous disputes, sorcerous attacks, wicked spells, charms, or poisons that cause calamities—then have all beings receive and uphold this Dharma according to the prescribed method.
No calamity will be able to harm them; misfortune will be transformed into blessings, and all will attain peace and well-being. The merit of this Dhāraṇī, as I proclaim it, cannot be conceived, measured, or compared. It must be received and upheld in secrecy and should not be transmitted carelessly.”
The Buddha addressed the great assembly: “If calamities arise within a realm so that there is no peace, or if men and women encounter strange transformations and ominous portents, they should invite the Sangha to establish a ritual altar according to the Dharma, enshrine an image of the Buddha, observe the precepts and virtuous conduct, and make offerings according to their means of incense, flowers, lamps, and candles. This will enable beings to obtain immeasurable merit, and all calamities will be dispelled.”
The Buddha again addressed the great assembly: “If, during the course of a year, the five planets—Venus, Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, and Saturn—together with Rāhu, Ketu, the Sun, the Moon, and the other stars cast their influence upon one’s natal destiny, causing various calamities, I have a Great Auspicious Mantra capable of overcoming the stellar luminaries. If one can receive and uphold it and recollect it with utmost sincerity, all calamities will naturally be dispelled and transformed into blessings.” He then spoke the mantra:
“Úm tát phạ nhạ sát đát ra sam ma duệ thất lị duệ phiến để ca câu lô tát bà ha”
OMÏ SARVA NAKSÏATRA SAMAYE ‘SRÌYE ‘SÀNTIKA KURU SVÀHÀ
When the Buddha had spoken this sutra, Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva, the fourfold assembly, the great deities who travel through space, the constellations, and the entire assembly of sages obeyed the Buddha’s command, bowed their heads in homage, reverently upheld the teaching, and returned to their respective palaces. The devas, nāgas, eight classes of beings, and all the assemblies, having heard what the Buddha taught, rejoiced, accepted it in faith, and practiced accordingly.
