I take refuge throughout the whole Realm of Empty Space
The three realms are pure; causes are equal
The nature is equal, Dharma Light, the path of Right Awakening
Transforming among humans and devas, a body of benefit and bliss
Manifest now in the sovereign stage of the Ten Grounds
Practicing the great vow of giving to liberate beings
Adorned with the marks of merit, named Samantabhadra
Now I shall speak the True Word, the Secret Teaching
At that time Samantabhadra Bodhisattva Mahasattva, wishing to manifest vast transformations, entered a samadhi called Great Sovereignty over the Three Realms. Having entered this samadhi, from the pure realm of empty space he manifested countless bodies, like particles of dust, filling all the worlds of the great thousandfold universe.
Then all the Tathagatas in all Buddha lands extended their right hands, rubbed the crown of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva Mahasattva’s head, and praised him, saying: “Good indeed! Good indeed, Son of the Buddha! Now you should speak the Dharma of the Supreme Dharani, the Mother of All Buddhas.”
At that time, from Samantabhadra Bodhisattva’s body there issued a thousand lights that shone throughout the ten directions, and all Buddha lands trembled. He then spoke the dharani:

When Samantabhadra Bodhisattva Mahasattva had spoken this dharani, the Buddha then contemplated that bodhisattva’s body as a Buddha of the past, who, out of compassion for all beings, manifested transformation bodies filling all worlds throughout the three realms.
At that time the great bodhisattvas, together with devas, humans, asuras, and others, rose from all the Vajra Peaks, left their seats of great wealth, adornment, gold, and jewels, went before that bodhisattva (Samantabhadra), and proclaimed: “Namo to the Great Loving-Kindness, Great Compassion, Boundless Ocean of Great Merit, Supreme Accomplishment, Dharma of the Great Dharani, which skillfully and abundantly benefits countless beings of the three realms and three times, causing them to abide securely in the stage of the Great Dharma.”
The Buddha said: “If there are people who hear this Dharma of the dharani, then all offenses they have created over countless kalpas will be entirely eliminated. It can also dry up the great ocean of afflictions and destroy the lofty mountain of self-view. Suppose someone were to encounter hundreds of thousands of Buddhas and, throughout boundless kalpas, create roots of goodness; that still would not equal the merit of this True Word.
This great dharani is the perfectly complete ocean of great merit of the minds of all Tathagatas. It can give rise to the seed of bodhi-wisdom and accomplish the ground of omniscience; no Buddha Dharma can equal it. As for the name of this dharani, even throughout hundreds of thousands of nayutas of kotis of kalpas, it is difficult to hear.
If there are people who, with respect to this scripture, receive, uphold, read, recite, revere, and make offerings, those beings will skillfully understand total retention, will be able to sustain the life of wisdom, will abide in the Tathagata’s stage, and will accomplish all merits.
If there are people who read and recite this sutra once, twice, up to three times, those people will obtain supreme merit. They will be able to extinguish all offenses, cut off all afflictions, and further encounter the Buddhas directly, without undergoing any sorrow, suffering, or distress.
If, in a quiet place, alone beneath a tree, one recites and upholds it with one mind, that person will attain the accomplishment of all Dharmas and will be loved and respected by everyone.
If there are people who, in a vast empty forest, sit in full lotus and recite this scripture a full seven times, before long those people will obtain great dhyana-samadhi, cut off all afflictions, and further see Samantabhadra Bodhisattva seated in full lotus appearing before them.
If there are people who, according to their ability, use incense and flowers to make offerings and recite this dharani until they are weary and lie down to sleep, then in a dream they will see Samantabhadra Bodhisattva extend his right hand, emit the radiance of the Dharma to bathe and illumine their body and mind, and say: “Good indeed! Good indeed, Son of the Buddha! Through the Great Mandala of the Tathagata your body is transformed and you obtain the stage of a great bodhisattva.” Their body and mind will be peaceful and happy, they will be endowed with great merit, virtue, and wisdom, and they will constantly see Samantabhadra Bodhisattva Mahasattva.
If there are people who, with a mind of loving-kindness and compassion for all beings, read and recite this sutra, those people will perfect the ten paramitas, eliminate all defiling offenses and afflictions, and further be protected by devas and humans. The Tathagata will praise them, saying: “Son of the Buddha! If you practice in accordance with this, before long you will enter the stage of Samantabhadra.”
