Lục Tự Đại Đà La Ni Chú Kinh

Thus have I heard. At one time the Bhagavan was dwelling on Mount Gridhrakuta in the city of Rajagriha, together with a great assembly of five hundred great bhikshus.

At that time, Elder Ananda was seized by the spellcraft of a Chandala girl. Then Elder Ananda said to the Buddha: “World-Honored One! I now wish to gain strength in order to cast off this Dharma. O Bhagavan! I now wish to gain strength in order to cast off this Sugata.”

At that time, the Bhagavan said to Elder Ananda: “Come here. Ananda! Do not be afraid. Ananda! You should receive and uphold the Six-Syllable Great Dharani Mantra. For the benefit, peace, joy, and auspicious conduct of the fourfold assembly, the mantra is spoken:

Tư Địa, thê đàm, an trà lệ, bát trà lệ, cát la trì, kê do lệ, tát đế bà đế, già lương bà đế, để xà bà đế, tần đầu ma đế

Ananda! This mantra can cause food eaten at night, which has not been digested, finally to be digested. It can remove illnesses such as vomiting and diarrhea, wind illness, fever illness, cold illness, and mixed illnesses. It can destroy all evil spellcraft. It can destroy all vetalas. It can destroy all images used in sorcery and curses.

Ananda! If someone knows the name of this spirit-mantra, that person will have no fear of danger from kings and rulers, danger from enemies, danger from robbers, danger from fire, or danger from water.

Whether in a city, town, village, or a deserted place, he will have no fear, nor will others spy on him, seeking faults or non-faults in order to censure him.

If he eats poison, the poison will not be able to harm him but will instead turn into benefit.

Ananda! This Six-Syllable Dharani Mantra was spoken by seven samyaksambuddhas, and it is also what Brahma King Sahampati, Sakra Devanam Indra, and the Four Great Heavenly Kings have spoken. They also rejoice in destroying all spellcraft and subduing vetalas. All images used in sorcery and curses are entirely shattered and destroyed.

Elder Ananda, having heard the Buddha’s teaching, joyfully practiced it.
