– STORIES OF HUNGRY GHOSTS
– THE SNAKE CHAPTER
1.9
BJT 54"What is the result of what deed that causes this person to eat feces and urine, blood and pus? What deed did this woman do that she must always eat blood and pus?
BJT 55New cloths, beautiful, soft, clean, and fine-textured, when given to her become like sheets of metal. What deed did this woman do?"
BJT 56"Venerable sir, she was my wife, she did not give, was miserly and stingy. She cursed and abused me when I was making offerings to the ascetics and brahmins, saying:
BJT 57'May you always eat impure things such as feces and urine, blood and pus, and may this be your lot in the next life, and may your robes become like sheets of metal.' Having done such evil deeds, she has come to this state and eats such filth for a long time."
The Story of the Hungry Ghost and the Master Weaver is the ninth.
