5. The Conduct of (the Bodhisatta) Mahāgovinda
BJT 37At another time, when I was the brahmin Mahāgovinda, I was the chaplain to seven kings and was revered by those sovereigns.
BJT 38At that time, the wealth in the seven kingdoms was mine. With that wealth I gave a great gift, like the undisturbed ocean.
BJT 39It was not that wealth and grain were displeasing to me, nor that I had no stores. The fruit of awakening was extremely precious to me; therefore I gave away precious wealth.
The conduct of (the Bodhisatta) Mahāgovinda is the fifth.
