佛說大乘大方廣佛冠經
Chinese title:佛說大乘大方廣佛冠經
Thus have I heard:
At one time the Buddha was dwelling on Mount Gṛdhrakūṭa, in the city of Rājagṛha, together with a great assembly of bhikṣus numbering one thousand two hundred and fifty, all of them Arhats who had exhausted the defilements. There were also assemblies of great Bodhisattvas, of whom the Bodhisattva Maitreya and the Bodhisattva Mañjuśrī were the foremost, together with countless devas, nāgas, yakṣas, gandharvas, and assemblies of Vidyādhara goddesses, and so forth.
At that time, the World-Honored One addressed the venerable Mahākāśyapa:
"Kāśyapa! Now, in order to cause the newly aspiring Bodhisattvas to bring all their roots of goodness to maturity, I have this discourse to proclaim. All of you, listen carefully and reflect upon it well."
Then Mahākāśyapa addressed the Buddha, saying:
"Excellent! Reverent World-Honored One! We shall receive and uphold your teaching and listen."
The Buddha said:
"Kāśyapa! In the East, beyond more than one Ganges' sands of world-systems from this Buddha-land, there is a world named Adornment of Concentration. In that land there is a Buddha named Supreme Auspicious Keeper of Concentration, Tathāgata, Worthy of Offerings, Perfectly Enlightened, who at present dwells there teaching and transforming beings for their benefit. In that Buddha-land there is a great Bodhisattva named Free from Dust, who shall, succeeding that Buddha, attain the fruit of Unsurpassed, Perfect, Complete Enlightenment, appearing in the world under the name Supreme Auspicious Keeper of Constant Concentration, Tathāgata, Worthy of Offerings, Perfectly Enlightened.
Kāśyapa! If there are any good sons and good women abiding in the Bodhisattva Vehicle who hear this name of the Tathāgata Supreme Auspicious Keeper of Concentration and the name of the great Bodhisattva Free from Dust, and who constantly recite and uphold them, then in future lives these people shall attain the wisdom of remembering former lives; for a hundred kalpas they shall turn their backs upon birth and death, and they shall be able to receive immeasurable merit, drawing near to the realization of the fruit of Unsurpassed, Perfect, Complete Enlightenment.
Furthermore, Kāśyapa! In the East, beyond two Ganges' sands of world-systems from this Buddha-land, there is a world named Wondrously Beloved Adornment of the Great Bodhi Site. If there are any good sons and good women abiding in the Bodhisattva Vehicle who hear the name of the Tathāgata Supreme Auspicious Lotus, Worthy of Offerings, Perfectly Enlightened, and the name of the great Bodhisattva Lotus Bearer, and who constantly recite and uphold them, then in future lives these people shall attain the wisdom of remembering former lives; even to the point that, when they are born, they shall always be born by transformation from a lotus flower; dwelling in the world they shall not be defiled or attached, transcending all unwholesome dharmas, just as the lotus flower is not stained by water.
With respect to Unsurpassed, Perfect, Complete Enlightenment they shall attain non-retrogression; for thirty thousand kalpas they shall turn their backs upon birth and death, and they shall be able to gather in immeasurable merit, drawing near to the realization of the fruit of Unsurpassed, Perfect, Complete Enlightenment.

In that land there is a Buddha named Supreme Single Jeweled Canopy, Tathāgata, Worthy of Offerings, Perfectly Enlightened, who at present dwells there teaching and transforming beings for their benefit.
Kāśyapa! If there are any good sons and good women abiding in the Bodhisattva Vehicle who come to hear the name of the Tathāgata Supreme Single Jeweled Canopy, Worthy of Offerings, Perfectly Enlightened, and who constantly recite and uphold it, then in future lives these people shall attain the wisdom of remembering former lives; they shall not be born into a lowly clan, nor born into an impoverished and base clan; wherever they take birth, they shall be born within the palace of a king.
In the place where they are born, there shall be no obstruction or calamity from the mother, no obstruction or calamity from the father, no calamity regarding wealth and rank, no calamity of illness. With respect to Unsurpassed, Perfect, Complete Enlightenment they shall attain non-retrogression; for thirty thousand kalpas they shall turn their backs upon birth and death, drawing near to the realization of the fruit of Unsurpassed, Perfect, Complete Enlightenment.

In that land there is a Buddha named Supreme Auspicious Concentration, Tathāgata, Worthy of Offerings, Perfectly Enlightened, who at present dwells there teaching and transforming beings for their benefit.
Kāśyapa! That Tathāgata Supreme Auspicious Concentration, Worthy of Offerings, Perfectly Enlightened, in ages past, when he was cultivating the practices of the Bodhisattva path, made this great vow: 'I vow that in a future age, when I have become a Buddha, if there are any good sons and good women abiding in the Bodhisattva Vehicle who hear my name and constantly recite and uphold it, then these people, life after life when they are born, shall always be able to leave the household life; and having left the household life, they shall all attain a thousand samādhis, and within each single samādhi they shall further realize a hundred thousand myriad koṭi nayuta gateways of samādhi.
The samādhis that they attain shall never be lost; they shall be able, in the past, to have made pilgrimage and offered reverence, and to have heard the Dharma, in the presence of the ten thousand Buddhas who have entered Nirvāṇa; and so too in the present and future ages they shall see Buddhas and hear the Dharma in like manner. They shall attain non-retrogression with respect to Unsurpassed, Perfect, Complete Enlightenment; life after life, for a thousand kalpas, when they are born they shall turn their backs upon birth and death, drawing near to the realization of the fruit of Unsurpassed, Perfect, Complete Enlightenment.'
Kāśyapa! If there are any good sons and good women abiding in the Bodhisattva Vehicle who hear the name of the Tathāgata Supreme Auspicious Concentration, Worthy of Offerings, Perfectly Enlightened, and are able to recite and uphold it, then these people shall attain all such practices and characteristics as they seek and aspire to.

If there are any good sons and good women abiding in the Bodhisattva Vehicle who hear this name of the Auspicious King of the Lofty and Victorious Radiance of the Jeweled Disk, Tathāgata, Worthy of Offerings, Perfectly Enlightened, and are able to recite and uphold it, then in future lives these people shall attain the wisdom of remembering former lives; they shall have mindfulness, they shall have wisdom, and all their marks shall be perfect; they shall accomplish speech that is trusted and accorded with, and shall attain eloquent speech without interruption.
Kāśyapa! These people are able, amid all the eloquence of the world, of devas and of humans, never to be interrupted or made to retreat by others; they shall always possess eloquence, and their speech shall not be interrupted.
Furthermore, if any good sons or good women constantly recite the name of that Buddha, then when these people hear the Dharma, the marks of the Buddha-Sage shall manifest directly before them. With respect to those dharmas that they have not heard before, then in accordance with what they study, they shall at that very moment attain boundless myriad koṭi nayuta hundred thousand dhāraṇīs of Following-Turning. Moreover, within this Jambū continent, with respect to all sentient beings, in accordance with what they delight in and aspire to and seek, these people shall all be able to know it;
