普賢菩薩行願讚
Chinese title:普賢菩薩行願讚
All within the worlds of the ten directions
All the Lions among Men (the Buddhas) of the three times
Now I pay homage to all without exception
Using a body, speech, and mind that are pure
With bodies as numerous as the fine dust-motes of the lands
To all the Tathāgatas I pay homage
Directing my whole mind and intent toward the Buddhas
By the power of this Practice and Vow of Samantabhadra
Upon the tip of a single dust-mote, Buddha-lands as numerous as dust-motes
The Buddhas and their Buddha-sons are seated therein
The Dharma-realm in this way, without any remainder
I trust that the Buddhas wholly fill it all
In that place, an ocean of Merit and Virtue is inexhaustible
Using all the sounds in that ocean of Merit and Virtue
To proclaim and extol the Merit and Virtue of the Tathāgatas
I forever praise all the Sugatas
With supreme garlands of flowers and anointing perfumes
With music and beautiful canopied parasols
All adorning implements, every one supreme
I make offering to all the Tathāgatas
With beautiful garments and every kind of incense
With powdered incense, heaped up like Mount Sumeru
With supreme bright lamps and burning incense
I make offering to all the Tathāgatas
All these vast, unsurpassed offerings
I, with supreme resolve, offer to all the Tathāgatas
By the power of supreme resolve in the Practice of Samantabhadra
I pay homage and make offering to all the Tathāgatas
The karmic offenses I have committed in the past
All arising from greed, hatred, and delusion
Through body, speech, and mind likewise
I now lay bare and confess them all
All the merit of the beings of the ten directions
Those still in training, those beyond training, the Pratyekabuddhas
Together with the Buddha-sons and the Tathāgatas
In all of it I rejoice along with them
All the Lamps of the World (the Enlightened Ones) of the ten directions
Who have realized Bodhi, attaining the unstained
Now I exhort and entreat all the World-Honored Ones
To turn the wondrous, unsurpassed Wheel of the Dharma
All those who wish to manifest Nirvāṇa
I, with palms joined, beseech you
May you long abide for kalpas as numerous as the dust-motes of the lands
For the benefit and joyful peace of the multitude of beings
Paying homage, making offerings, and confessing offenses
Rejoicing in Merit and Virtue, and exhorting and entreating
The Merit and Virtue I have gathered and amassed
I dedicate it all toward Bodhi
With all the Tathāgatas I cultivate and learn
So as to perfect the Practice and Vow of Samantabhadra
May I make offering to the Buddhas of the past
And to all who now abide throughout the ten directions
May all the lands of the ten directions
Become vast and likewise pure
May the Buddhas all come to the Bodhi-tree (the Royal Tree of Enlightenment)
And the ranks of Buddha-sons fill it in abundance
May all the beings of the ten directions
Be at peace and joyful, free of every calamity
May all the multitude of beings gain the benefit of the Dharma
May they attain the accord with mind as they wish
When I am cultivating the Practice toward Bodhi
In every realm of existence may I remember my former lives
If, throughout my many lives, I undergo birth and death
May I always become one who has gone forth into homelessness
Keeping moral conduct undefiled, ever pure
Ever practicing without lack and without breach
The speech of the Devas, the Nāgas, the Yakṣas
Of the Kumbhāṇḍas, and the speech of humans
All the speech of the multitude of beings
Using all these sounds, may I expound the Dharma
May I ever practice and increase the Wondrous Pāramitās
Never, within the Mind of Bodhi, giving rise to confusion
All offenses together with all obstructions
May they all be extinguished without any remainder
From karma and afflictions and the realm of Māra
In the path of the world may I attain liberation
Just as the lotus flower is unstained by the water
And just as the sun and moon are unattached to empty space
May the sufferings of the evil destinies be stilled
May all the multitude of beings be made joyful and at peace
Bringing benefit to all the multitude of beings
Even to all the lands in the ten directions
Ever practicing in accord with all sentient beings
May the Wondrous Practice of Bodhi be brought to perfection
The Practice and Vow of Samantabhadra, I cultivate
In the kalpas of the future I shall cultivate and practice
All those who travel together with me
May we always come together and gather as one
In the karma of body and speech, and the karma of mind
Sharing one and the same Practice and Vow, may we cultivate
All the good friends who bring me benefit
Who reveal for me the Practice of Samantabhadra
May I always come together and gather with them
And toward this may all attain a mind that never tires
May I ever behold all the Tathāgatas
Surrounded together by all the Buddha-sons
In that place may all raise up great offerings
In all the kalpas of the future, never wearied
Ever upholding the subtle and wondrous Dharma of the Buddha
May all cause the Practice of Bodhi to shine forth
May all alike purify the Practice of Samantabhadra
In all the kalpas of the future may I cultivate and practice
While circling and flowing through all the states of existence
May Merit, Virtue, and Wisdom become inexhaustible
Prajñā, skillful Means, Samādhi, and liberation
May I attain the inexhaustible Treasury of Merit and Virtue
Like the dust-motes upon a single dust-mote, so are the lands
The Buddha-lands within them are beyond conceiving
The Buddhas and their Buddha-sons seated therein
Ever beholding the supreme and wondrous Practice of Bodhi
In this way, throughout all the immeasurable directions
Within a single hair-tip are contained the three times
Oceans of Buddhas together with oceans of lands
I enter and cultivate the practice through oceans of kalpas
Within a single sound, an ocean of Merit and Virtue
All the pure voices of the Tathāgatas
Every sound that the minds of the multitude of beings delight in
May I always gain entry into the eloquence of the Buddhas
Within those inexhaustible sounds
All the Tathāgatas of the three times
When they turn the wondrous Wheel of Principle and Meaning
By the power of Wisdom may I enter everywhere
In a single instant, all that is to come
May I enter all the kalpas of the future
All the immeasurable kalpas of the three times
In an instant may I enter koṭis of kalpas
All the Lions among Men of the three times
In a single instant may I behold them all
May I always gain entry into those realms
By the majestic power of the Practice of Liberation, like an illusion
All the wondrously adorned lands of the three realms
May they appear and arise upon the tip of a dust-mote
Thus, throughout the inexhaustible places of every direction
May I enter the adorned lands of the Buddhas
All the Lamps of the World (the Buddhas) of the future age
May they all be enlightened and turn the Wheel of the Dharma
Manifesting the Ultimate, Quiescent Nirvāṇa
May I come to the presence of those World-Honored Ones
By the power of supernatural travel, swift and pervading
Relying upon the universal gate of majestic power
By the Merit and Virtue of the Majestic Power of Practice
The pervading practice of the Majestic Power of Loving-Kindness
By the Majestic Power of Merit, with adornment everywhere
The unattached practice of the Majestic Power of Wisdom
By the Majestic Equanimity of the power of Prajñā and skillful Means
May the Majestic Power of Bodhi all be gathered and amassed
May all be purified within the power of karma
Now I crush and shatter the power of the afflictions
May I subdue and overcome the power of Māra (the obstructing Demon)
And perfect every power of Samantabhadra
Causing the ocean of lands everywhere to become pure
May I liberate all sentient beings everywhere
May I contemplate all the oceans of the Dharma
And attain the source within the ocean of Wisdom
Causing the ocean of Practice everywhere to become pure
And causing the ocean of Vows all to be fulfilled
Making offerings to the oceanic assemblies of all the Buddhas
In the kalpas of the Practice of Samantabhadra, never wearied
All the Tathāgatas of the three times
The Vows of Bodhi in all their distinctions
May I fulfill them all without any remainder
By the Practice of Samantabhadra, awakening to Bodhi
The Buddha-Tathāgatas have an eldest son
Whose name and title is the Honored Samantabhadra
By that same Wisdom and equal Wondrous Practice
I dedicate all the roots of goodness
May the karma of body, speech, and mind be made pure
May the practices be pure, and the lands be pure
Like that Wisdom whose name is Samantabhadra
May I this very day become equal to that rank
The Practice and Vow of Samantabhadra, adorned everywhere
May I practice the Practice of Mañjuśrī
In the kalpas of the future, never wearied
Bringing all to perfection, leaving nothing undone
Having cultivated supreme Practices beyond all counting
All the Merit and Virtue beyond all measuring
Abiding in immeasurable cultivation
May I come to know all those Spiritual Penetrations
So long as empty space reaches its end
So long as beings reach their end without remainder
And so long as karma and afflictions reach their end
So long shall my vows likewise reach their end
If there were boundless lands of the ten directions
Adorned with jewels and offered to the Buddhas
The most exquisite of heavenly and human supreme bliss
Given as alms throughout kalpas as numerous as dust-motes
If a person, upon this King of Supreme Vows
Hearing it but once, can give rise to a mind of supreme resolve
Yearning and thirsting for the supreme Bodhi
The mass of merit they attain surpasses the former by far
Such a person becomes free of the evil destinies
And departs far away from all evil companions
Swiftly they come to behold Amitāyuḥ (Infinite Life)
Merely by recollecting the supreme Practice and Vow of Samantabhadra
They gain great benefit and an increase of lifespan
Well does this person come to live their human life
Like the Great Bodhisattva Samantabhadra
That person before long shall attain it
The karmic offenses of the Five Heinous Acts that one has committed
Done through the absence of Wisdom
When one recites the Practice and Vow of Samantabhadra
They are swiftly extinguished without any remainder
Wisdom, beauty of form, and excellent marks
Family lineage and noble character shall be accomplished
Against Māra and the heretics one becomes hard to destroy
Ever within the three realms one is honored with offerings
Swiftly one goes to the Bodhi-tree
And arriving, sits down, benefiting sentient beings
Awakening to Bodhi, turning the Wheel of the Dharma
Crushing and subduing Māra together with his retinue
If there is one who upholds this Vow of Samantabhadra
Reading, reciting, receiving, and upholding it, and expounding it
The Tathāgatas all know the fruit and recompense
Of attaining supreme Bodhi—let no doubt arise
Like the valiant Wisdom of Mañjuśrī of Wondrous Auspiciousness
And like Samantabhadra, such is the Wisdom
When I am training and learning in that place
I dedicate all the roots of goodness entirely
All the Tathāgatas of the three times
By this dedication, made their supreme vow
I take all the roots of goodness
And dedicate them all to the Practice of Samantabhadra
At the time of approaching death, when casting off this life
May all karmic obstructions be transformed
Drawing near to behold Amitābha (Infinite Light)
May I swiftly reach that World of Utmost Bliss
Having arrived in that place, may these Supreme Vows
All become manifest before me, complete and fulfilled
I shall fulfill them all without any remainder
Bringing benefit to beings in the world
In that Assembly of the Buddha, most adorned
Born within a supreme lotus flower
There may I attain the personal prediction of Buddhahood
Drawing near to the Tathāgata of Infinite Light
Having attained that prediction there
I shall transform into koṭis of immeasurable kinds
Widely bringing benefit and joy to sentient beings
Throughout the worlds of the ten directions, by the power of Wisdom
If a person recites and upholds the Vow of Samantabhadra
All the roots of goodness they have gathered and amassed
In a single instant they attain it as they vowed
By this, may the multitude of beings attain the Supreme Vow
May I attain this Practice of Samantabhadra
A supreme, immeasurable accumulation of Merit and Virtue
May all the multitude of beings sunk in evil
Come to the palace of the Buddha of Infinite Light
Praise of the Eight Great Bodhisattvas
(Extracted from the end of the Sūtra of the Maṇḍala of the Eight Great Bodhisattvas)
The gateway to the citadel of Perfect Quiescence
Able to extinguish utterly the door
The Dharma that the Buddhas enjoy and partake of
Savior of the world, I bow my head in homage
From his hand flows pure water
Able to relieve the hungry and thirsty ghosts
The Wish-Fulfilling Tree of the three realms
I bow my head to Padma-pāṇi (the Lotus-Bearer)
The Water of Great Loving-Kindness he makes his heart
Able to quench the fire of anger
I bow my head to the Honored Maitreya
Able to cut the bowstring of Desire
Ākāśa-garbha, of Wondrous Wisdom
The Honored One Quiescent as Empty Space
Liberating from the stream of birth and death
I bow my head to the Heart-Son of the Buddha (the son of the Buddha's heart)
The delusion of boundless sentient beings
Able to sever the useless mind
I bow my head to Samantabhadra
The Foremost Son of the Sugata (the son who is the foremost leader among the Sugata's sons)
Toiling and laboring like a servant
Surpassing and overcoming the army of Māra (the obstructing Demon)
I bow my head to Vajra-pāṇi (the Vajra-Bearer)
Able to speak all the Vidyās (Mantras of Knowledge)
I bow my head to Mañjuśrī (Wondrous Auspiciousness)
In the wondrous form of a youth
Stretching out everywhere the Lamp of Wisdom
Seizing away the light of the three realms
Sarva-nīvaraṇa-viṣkambhin (Remover of All Hindrances)
For this reason I bow my head in homage
The Honored One of Inexhaustible Wisdom
Able to give rise to eloquence that never runs dry
Like the Earth, upon which sentient beings
Lean and rely without ever ceasing
The Treasury of Firm Wisdom and Compassion
Kṣitigarbha (Earth-Store), I bow my head in homage
These true Sons of the Sugata
In praising them, one reaps Merit
By means of these sentient beings
In this way one becomes a Vessel of Praise (an object worthy of praise)
PRAISE OF THE PRACTICE AND VOW OF SAMANTABHADRA BODHISATTVA
(The End)
The Dhāraṇī for Swiftly Fulfilling the Practice and Vow of Samantabhadra is:
Na-ma tất-đế-lý dã, địa-vĩ ca nam (1) đát đà nghiệt đá nam (2) Án (3) a tuất phộc la, vĩ nghĩ nễ, sa-phộc ha (4)
NAMAḤ STRIYA-DHVIKĀNĀṂ _ TATHĀGATĀNĀṂ (Homage to all the Tathāgatas of the three times)
OṂ (Gathering and summoning)_ ASU-VĀRA (the supreme wonder of life) VIGĀNA (Aversion to what is evil) SVĀHĀ (the accomplishment of what is good and auspicious).
Each day recite the Practice and Vow of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, and thereafter immediately recite this True Word (Mantra). As soon as one has recited it but a single time, the Practice and Vow of Samantabhadra are all fulfilled, becoming the Cause of Samādhi; one swiftly attains the manifestation of Samādhi before oneself, and the two kinds of adornment—Merit and Virtue, and Wisdom—attain the firm and steadfast Dharma, swiftly being accomplished.
