RULE 1
Once, the Blessed One, the Bhagavā, was dwelling in the Nigrodha Park at Kapilavatthu, among the Śākyas. At that time, the Blessed One, on account of these causes and conditions, assembled the Sangha of bhikkhus and said:
"From this day forward, I shall establish the training rules for the bhikkhunīs, comprising ten principles of meaning, up to and including the phrase 'for the long endurance of the true Dharma.'"
The rule to be recited is as follows:
Whatever bhikkhunī intentionally speaks a falsehood, it is a pācittiya.
