Commentary on the Sutra of the Secret Blaze of the Dakini
Context
The Ḍākinīguhyajvālatantra (The Secret Blaze of the Dakini) belongs to Vajrayana and is one of the tantric scriptures preserved in the Tibetan Kangyur. This work stands within the category of the Highest Tantras (Anuttarayogatantra), where the most sublime methods are transmitted through symbols, commitments (samaya), and inner practice.
The sutra was composed within the context of the development of Tibetan Buddhism during the eighth to twelfth centuries, when Indian Dharma methods were translated and adapted. In the Tibetan tradition, the dakini represents the ultimate wisdom of Buddha-nature: female divine beings who set all events in the universe in motion, protect the secret Dharma methods, and urge practitioners forward on the path of liberation.
The title “Secret Blaze” (guhyajvāla) refers to dynamic power, the fire of wisdom (prajñāgni) that burns away all delusion, desire, and obstacles. This is the emphasis of the whole of Vajrayana Tantra: inner transformation through wisdom and skillful means.
Main Content
Although the detailed content of this sutra has not yet been fully translated into Vietnamese, it may be understood that the sutra focuses on teachings concerning the nature of the dakini and the role of female bodhisattvas in the accomplishment of tantric practitioners.
According to the Tibetan tradition, this sutra teaches that dakinis are not external entities but manifestations of the fundamental wisdom (yeshe) of the practitioner’s own mind. When practicing meditation and ritual (sādhana), the practitioner invokes these dakinis to dissolve psychological obstacles, pierce through ignorance, and liberate the deep energy of body and mind.
The sutra is also connected with the doctrine of energy channels (nāḍī) and winds (prāṇa) in the tantric system, the subtle streams of energy that run through the energy centers (cakra) of the body. The secret blaze symbolizes the process of activating and taming these energy flows through the pronunciation of mantra and meditative visualization.
🌏 The Buddhist canon is vast — some sūtras (such as comparative Vinaya across schools, or untranslated Tibetan-canon texts) have to this day NEVER been translated into Vietnamese or English by anyone, scholars included. Rather than leave it blank, Inti AI offers a FAITHFUL summary grounded in the tradition — from the sūtra's title, origin and essence — so you can still reach this rare part of the treasury.
