1.73. Wealth

—What wealth in this world

Is supreme for a person?

What, when well practiced,

Leads to true happiness?

What is the sweetest

Of all flavors?

Living what kind of life

Is called the supreme life?

—Faith in this world

Is a person’s supreme wealth.

The true Dhamma, when well practiced,

Leads to true happiness.

Truth is the sweetest

Of all flavors.

Living with wisdom

Is called the supreme life.

These discourses were translated into Vietnamese by Venerable Thích Minh Châu and published by Vạn Hạnh Meditation Monastery in the early 1980s. Later, as part of the Vietnamese Buddhist Canon translation and publication program, the collection was reprinted in 1993 and assigned sequence numbers 12 through 16.
