– Chapter 1: Linked Discourses with Deities

– VI: Old Age

1.58. Deviation

—What is called a wrong path?

What declines day and night?

What is the stain of the spiritual life?

What is a bath without water?

—Lust is called a wrong path;

Youth declines day and night;

Women are the stain of the spiritual life,

To which humankind is bound;

Asceticism and the spiritual life

Are a bath requiring no water.

These discourses were translated into Vietnamese by Venerable Thích Minh Châu and published by Vạn Hạnh Meditation Monastery in the early 1980s. Later, as part of the Vietnamese Buddhist Canon translation and publication program, the collection was reprinted in 1993 and assigned sequence numbers 12 through 16.
