7.4
BJT 1135A heavenly mansion, on a golden mountain peak, covered with a net of gold, adorned with a net of tinkling bells, shining brilliantly in all directions.
BJT 1136The eight-sided pillars have been skillfully fashioned, all made of beryl; on each face, seven kinds of precious jewels have been manifested.
BJT 1137Beryl, gold, crystal, and rubies, along with cat's-eye gems, pearls, and red maṇi jewels.
BJT 1138The floor, varied and pleasing, where no dust rises; golden curved rafters, manifested, supporting the pointed roof.
BJT 1139And four stairways have been manifested on four sides, with chambers of many different kinds of jewels, blazing like the sun.
BJT 1140There, four balustrades are divided into proportionate sections. Gleaming brilliantly, they illuminate the four quarters all around.
BJT 1141In that most excellent heavenly mansion, the devaputta of great radiance, resplendent in complexion beyond all others, is like the rising sun.
Ahaṁ andhakavindasmiṁ buddhassādiccabandhuno, vihāraṁ satthu kāresiṁ pasanno sehi pāṇihi.
Tattha gandhañca mālañca paccagghañca vilepanaṁ, vihāraṁ satthuno dāsiṁ vippasannena cetasā.
BJT 1142"Is this result of yours due to generosity, or to virtue, or to the act of reverential salutation? Being asked, please explain this to me."
BJT 1143That devaputta, delighted at being questioned by the Venerable Moggallāna, being asked the question, explained what kamma this result belongs to:
BJT 1144"With faith, I had a monastery built with my own hands at Andhakavinda for the Buddha, the kinsman of the sun, the Teacher.
BJT 1145There, with a serene mind, I offered fragrant things, garlands, precious ointments, and the monastery to the Teacher.
BJT 1146On account of that, this has been attained by me; I exercise power in Nandana. In the lovely Nandana garden, attended by flocks of various birds, honoured by celestial nymphs, I delight in song and dance."
