7.1
BJT 1115"Just as the Cittalatā Garden, the foremost and supreme garden in the Heaven of the Thirty(-Three), shines with radiance, so too does your heavenly mansion, dwelling in the sky, blaze with brilliance in the very same manner.
BJT 1116You have attained the supernormal powers of the devas and possess great majesty. What meritorious deed did you perform when you were a human being? On account of what do you possess such majesty, blazing with splendor like this, and your complexion illuminates all directions?"
BJT 1117That young deva was joyful when asked by the Venerable Moggallāna. Being questioned, he explained which kamma had produced this result:
BJT 1118"I, when I was a human being in the human world, was a poor laborer, wretched and without refuge, and I supported my aged mother and father. And those who were virtuous were held dear by me; with a confident mind, I respectfully offered abundant gifts of food and drink.
BJT 1119On account of that, I have such a complexion. On account of that, all this has been accomplished for me here. And on account of that, pleasing enjoyments arise for me.
BJT 1120Venerable monk of great majesty, I have told you of the meritorious deed I performed when I was a human being. On account of that do I possess such majesty, blazing with splendor like this, and my complexion illuminates all directions."
