BJT 1069"Just as the moon moves through the sky, shining brilliantly in the heavens when the dark clouds have been scattered, in just the same way this heavenly mansion of yours dwells in the sky, shining brilliantly.
BJT 1070You have attained the divine powers of the devas, with great majesty. When you were a human being, what meritorious deed did you perform? On account of what do you have such majesty, blazing with radiance, and your complexion illuminates all directions?"
BJT 1071That young deva, delighted at being questioned by the venerable Moggallāna, being asked the question, explained of which kamma this was the result:
BJT 1072"In the human world, my wife and I, living as householders, gave lodging to an arhat. With a mind of faith and confidence, we respectfully offered an abundance of food and drink as a gift.
BJT 1073On account of that, I have such a complexion. On account of that, this has been accomplished for me here. And on account of that, pleasing enjoyments arise for me.
BJT 1074Venerable bhikkhu of great majesty, I have explained to you the meritorious deed I performed when I was a human being. On account of that, I have such majesty, blazing with radiance, and my complexion illuminates all directions."
