6.1
BJT 1049"Just as the Cittalatā garden, the foremost and most excellent pleasure garden in the Tāvatiṃsa realm, shines brilliantly, so too this mansion of yours, dwelling in the sky, is shining in just that same way.
BJT 1050You have attained the supernormal powers of the devas and possess great majesty. When you were a human being, what meritorious deed did you perform? On account of what do you possess such majesty, blazing with radiance, and your complexion illuminating all the directions?"
BJT 1051That young deva, delighted at being questioned by Venerable Moggallāna, being asked the question, explained which kamma had produced this result:
BJT 1052"In the world of human beings, my wife and I lived as householders, as a source of support. With a mind of pure confidence, we respectfully offered gifts of abundant food and drink.
BJT 1053On account of that, I possess such a complexion. On account of that, this was accomplished for me here. And on account of that, pleasurable enjoyments arise for me.
BJT 1054Venerable bhikkhu of great majesty, I have told you of the meritorious deed I performed when I was a human being. On account of that, I possess such majesty, blazing with radiance, and my complexion illuminates all the directions."
