BJT 328"I taught my student the playing of the seven-stringed lute with its sweet, pleasing sound. He challenged me at the performance stage. O Kosiya (Lord Sakka), pray be my refuge."
BJT 329"I am your refuge; I am one who honors teachers. The student shall not defeat you. O teacher, you shall defeat the student."
BJT 330"O heavenly maiden, you stand with a complexion so brilliant that it illumines the directions all around, like the star osadhī.
BJT 331By reason of what have you attained such a complexion as this? By reason of what has this achievement come about for you here? And by reason of what do the pleasing enjoyments arise for you?
BJT 332O heavenly maiden of great power, I ask you: 'When you were a human being, what meritorious deed did you perform? By reason of what do you possess such radiant power as this, and your complexion illumines the directions all around?'"
BJT 333That heavenly maiden rejoiced when questioned by the Venerable Moggallāna. Being asked the question, she explained of which kamma this was the fruit:
BJT 334"A woman who gives the finest cloth is distinguished among men and women; in the same way, a woman who gives a pleasing image — such a woman goes and attains a pleasing station belonging to the celestial realm.
BJT 335Please behold my heavenly mansion here. I am a heavenly maiden who can assume any form I wish; I am foremost among a thousand heavenly maidens. Please behold the fruit accomplished by meritorious deeds.
BJT 336By reason of that, I have attained such a complexion as this. By reason of that, this achievement has come about for me here. And by reason of that, the pleasing enjoyments arise for me.
BJT 337Venerable monk of great power, I declare to you the meritorious deed I performed when I was a human being. By reason of that, I possess such radiant power as this, and my complexion illumines the directions all around."
