– THE CHAPTER ON THE SEAT

1.14

BJT 116"O goddess, you stand with a radiant complexion, causing all the directions to blaze with light, like the star Osadhī.

BJT 117On account of what have you obtained such a complexion as this? On account of what is this achievement accomplished for you here? And on account of what do pleasurable enjoyments arise for you?

BJT 118O goddess of great might, I ask you: 'When you were a human being, what meritorious deed did you perform? On account of what do you possess such might, blazing with splendor like this, and your complexion shining throughout all directions?'"

BJT 119That goddess, rejoicing when questioned by the venerable Moggallāna, being asked the question, explained of which kamma this was the fruit:

BJT 120"I, when a human being in the human realm, was a daughter-in-law in the household of my father-in-law. I saw a bhikkhu, one without defilement, pure, unperturbed.

BJT 121With faith arisen, I with my own hands offered my allotted portion to him. Having offered a cake, I rejoice in the Nandana Grove in the heavenly realm.

BJT 122On account of that, I have obtained such a complexion as this. On account of that, this achievement is accomplished for me here. And on account of that, pleasurable enjoyments arise for me.

BJT 123Venerable bhikkhu of great might, I declare to you the meritorious deed I performed when I was a human being. On account of that, I possess such might, blazing with splendor like this, and my complexion shines throughout all the directions."
