1.12
BJT 101"O celestial being of great majesty, having ascended a palace with pillars of beryl, lovely, radiant, adorned with many colors, you dwell there, manifesting various divine transformations, high and low. And these celestial maidens dance, sing, and perform entertainments all around you.
BJT 102O one of great majesty, you have attained the supernatural powers of the gods. What meritorious deed did you perform when you were a human being? On account of what do you have such majesty, shining brilliantly like this, and your complexion illuminating all the directions?"
BJT 103That celestial being, delighted at being questioned by the Venerable Moggallāna, explained, when asked the question, which karma this result belonged to:
BJT 104"I, when I was a human being in the human realm, was a female lay disciple of the One with Vision. I abstained from the taking of life, and I kept away from what is not given in this world.
BJT 105There was no drinking of intoxicants, and I did not speak false words; I found delight only with my own husband. With a mind of confident faith, I reverently offered abundant gifts of food and drink.
BJT 106On account of that, I have such a complexion. On account of that, things are accomplished for me here. And on account of that, pleasing enjoyments arise for me.
BJT 107Venerable bhikkhu of great majesty, I declare to you the meritorious deed I performed when I was a human being. On account of that I have such majesty, shining brilliantly like this, and my complexion illuminates all the directions."
