502. {505.} Pāraphaliya
Walt 5420 I saw the golden Sambuddha,
Sacrificial Recipient,
who had entered onto the road,
shining like a dinner-plate tree. Verse 1
Walt 5421 In the ninety-one aeons since
I gave him pāra -fruit back then,
I’ve come to know no bad rebirth:
that is the fruit of giving fruit. Verse 2
Walt 5422 My defilements are now burnt up;
all new existence is destroyed.
Like elephants with broken chains,
I am living without constraint. Verse 3
Walt 5423 Being in Best Buddha’s presence
was a very good thing for me.
The three knowledges are attained;
I have done what the Buddha taught! Verse 4
Walt 5424 The four analytical modes,
and these eight deliverances,
six special knowledges mastered,
I have done what the Buddha taught! Verse 5
Thus indeed Venerable Pāraphaliya Thera spoke these verses.
The legend of Pāraphaliya Thera is finished.
