– Jagatidāyaka Chapter, the Forty-Sixth

448. {451.} Jagatidāyaka

Walt 4797 Happy, with pleasure in my heart,

I had the spot of earth cleared for

the foot of the superb Bodhi

of Dhammadassi Buddha , Sage. Verse 1

Walt 4798 From a cliff or from a mountain,

when I have fallen from a tree,

I get support to break the fall:

that’s the fruit of a spot of earth. Verse 2

Walt 4799 Thieves are not harassing me and

rulers don’t despise me either ;

I am surpassing all my friends:

that’s the fruit of a spot of earth. Verse 3

Walt 4800 In whichever womb I’m reborn,

whether it’s human or divine,

everywhere I’m being worshipped:

that’s the fruit of a spot of earth. Verse 4

Walt 4801 In the eighteen hundred aeons

since I prepared that spot of earth,

I’ve come to know no bad rebirth:

that’s the fruit of a spot of earth. Verse 5

Walt 4802 My defilements are now burnt up;

all new existence is destroyed.

Like elephants with broken chains,

I am living without constraint. Verse 6

Walt 4803 Being in Best Buddha’s presence

was a very good thing for me.

The three knowledges are attained;

I have done what the Buddha taught! Verse 7

Walt 4804 The four analytical modes,

and these eight deliverances,

six special knowledges mastered,

I have done what the Buddha taught! Verse 8

Thus indeed Venerable Jagatidāyaka Thera spoke these verses.

The legend of Jagatidāyaka Thera is finished.
