TTC 1Bhikkhus, by abandoning seven things one becomes an ascetic … by casting off seven things one becomes a brahmin … by destroying seven things one becomes peaceful … by washing away seven things one becomes washed clean … by fully knowing seven things one becomes wise … by destroying seven enemies one becomes noble … by stopping seven things one becomes an Arahant. What seven?
TTC 2One stops identity view, doubt, attachment to rites and observances, greed, hatred, delusion, and conceit.

This collection was translated by Venerable Thích Minh Châu from the Pali Canon into Vietnamese in 1976–1977, and was published by the Vạn Hạnh Buddhist Institute, Saigon, in 1980–1981 . As part of the program to translate and publish the Vietnamese Buddhist Canon, the collection was revised into 4 volumes and republished in 1996 as numbers 21, 22, 23, and 24.

The “…” is an abbreviation carried over from the Pāli original itself, called peyyāla. The early canon was memorized and recited, so passages repeated verbatim from a preceding discourse were commonly contracted to an elision mark rather than written out in full. Venerable Thích Minh Châu's translation preserves this convention. Some texts therefore look short — but that is the canonical form, not missing content or a truncated translation. The elided passages can be read in full in the preceding discourses of the same chapter.
