—Mendicants, there are these four ignoble expressions. What four?
—Having seen, one says that one has not seen; having heard, one says that one has not heard; having sensed, one says that one has not sensed; having perceived, one says that one has not perceived.
Mendicants, these are the four ignoble expressions.
This discourse collection was translated from Pali into Vietnamese by Venerable Thích Minh Châu in 1976–1977 and published by Vạn Hạnh Buddhist Institute, Saigon, in 1980–1981. As part of the Vietnamese Buddhist Canon translation and publication program, the collection was revised into 4 volumes and reprinted in 1996 as volumes 21, 22, 23, and 24.
