– Aṅguttara Nikāya

11.982. Craving (1)

TTC 1“Bhikkhus, to directly know craving, eleven qualities should be developed. What eleven?

TTC 2“The first jhāna, the second jhāna, the third jhāna, the fourth jhāna, the liberation of mind through loving-kindness, the liberation of mind through compassion, the liberation of mind through appreciative joy, the liberation of mind through equanimity, the dimension of infinite space, the dimension of infinite consciousness, and the dimension of nothingness.

“Bhikkhus, to directly know craving, these eleven qualities should be developed.”

This collection was translated by Venerable Thích Minh Châu from the Pali Canon into Vietnamese in 1976–1977 and published by the Vạn Hạnh Buddhist Institute, Saigon, in 1980–1981. As part of the translation and publication of the Vietnamese Buddhist Canon, the collection was revised into 4 volumes and republished in 1996 as volumes 21, 22, 23, and 24.
