Exposition of Toh 2425 — Tengyur Abhidharma
Context
Toh 2425 is a work belonging to the treatise collection (Śāstrapiṭaka) in the Tengyur, the compilation of explanations and commentaries on the Buddhadharma compiled in Tibet. The Northern Transmission Mahayana tradition, also called the Tibetan Buddhadharma tradition, preserved and developed Mahayana teachings from India through an organized system of study, in which the treatise collection plays an extremely important role. These works are not original scriptures (the scriptural collection), but profound explanations and commentaries by Buddhist masters and scholars intended to clarify the subtle layers of meaning of the Buddhadharma.
The completion of the Tengyur in the fourteenth century created a vast treasury of Buddhist knowledge, with more than 200 volumes of texts containing thought from major schools such as Madhyamaka, Yogācāra, and Tantra. The classification of this work within the treatise collection is evidence of its value and recognition in the Tibetan tradition.
Main Content
Although there is no detailed evidence concerning the specific title and content of Toh 2425 in existing materials, works belonging to the treatise collection generally focus on core Mahayana themes: the bodhisattva path, Buddha-nature, emptiness (Śūnyatā), or theoretical aspects of the Buddha bodies (Trikāya, the three bodies of the Buddha).
In the Tibetan tradition, commentaries often use rigorous logical method (pramāṇa, valid reasoning) to analyze the teachings. They balance the mystical character of Tantra with the rational thought of the exoteric schools. If Toh 2425 is related to Tantra, it may teach on topics such as visualization meditation, subtle energy channels, or Buddha-mind. If it belongs to the exoteric teachings, it may discuss relative emptiness or the development of bodhicitta.
🌏 The Buddhist canon is vast — some sūtras (such as comparative Vinaya across schools, or untranslated Tibetan-canon texts) have to this day NEVER been translated into Vietnamese or English by anyone, scholars included. Rather than leave it blank, Inti AI offers a FAITHFUL summary grounded in the tradition — from the sūtra's title, origin and essence — so you can still reach this rare part of the treasury. Whenever an original translation exists, the app shows the original first.
