The Buddha said:
“If any good man or good woman hears the names of these Buddhas in the south and, with a mind free of doubt, awakens through faith to the Eye of the Way and upholds, reveres, and bows to them, that person will be endowed with merit and virtue in the present life and will eventually obtain the following five things:
1. They will cast off attachment to self and always encounter a Buddha dwelling in the world.
2. They will become a Wheel-Turning Sage King, honored and powerful.
3. They will attain dharani, uphold the sutras, and possess immeasurable faith.
4. They will perfect the thirty-two marks of a great being, ultimately attain the Buddha Way, and fully accomplish all practices and vows.
5. They will realize the five kinds of unobstructed spiritual powers and encounter no impediment whatsoever. These are the five things. If any woman hears the names of these Buddhas and then reverently bows to them with utmost sincerity, she will relinquish the female body and be born in a pure Buddha-land. 150 Names of the Buddhas Presently Abiding in the Southwest
The Buddha said to Śāriputra:
“If any good man or good woman hears the names of these Tathagatas, it means that they have made offerings to Buddhas in past ages. They should single-mindedly believe in and cherish them, uphold them, and recite them. Such a person will give rise to immeasurable joy, transcend to a vast and profound state, and establish their mind in the Ultimate Truth.
If such a person, with the utmost faith and devotion, invokes the names of those Tathagatas, they will gain immeasurable merit and forever depart far from the yoke of suffering in the three evil destinies. After the end of their life, they will all be born in the lands of those Buddhas. As they approach the end of their life, those Tathagatas will come with their great assemblies and stand before that person. They will then teach the Dharma and transform them, enabling them never to regress and assuring their attainment of Perfect Enlightenment.
Suppose someone hears that person proclaiming and praising the meritorious names of these Tathagatas and gives rise to slander. That person will fall into hell for 1,050,000 kalpas and undergo every torment.
If anyone single-mindedly upholds the names of these Tathagatas without abandoning them, and bows to them with reverence, they will eradicate the karmic offenses of birth and death accumulated over "If any good man or good woman who is cultivating and studying the bodhisattva path hears the names of these Buddhas, does not fall into the net of doubt, and reverently possesses profound faith, then wherever they are born, light will shine upon them, they will enter the samadhi of right concentration, and they will also attain immeasurable gateways of samadhi. When their lives are about to end, they will also behold one billion nayutas of Buddhas, Worthy Ones, Perfectly Enlightened Ones, in each of the ten directions.
Thereafter, they will be able to penetrate deeply into and uphold the profound words of the Dharma, never neglecting them, until they attain Buddhahood.
